A Huntsville dentist has been recognized by his peers.
Dr. Peter Bastian received the Dentist of the Year award from the Canadian Academy of General Dentistry at the group’s annual meeting, held Oct. 15 at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel.
Dr. Sanjay Uppal, President of the academy, presented the award in recognition of Bastian’s many years of service and dedication to the profession.
“I am honoured to receive the Dentist of the Year Award from my fellow dentists in the academy,” Bastian said. “To receive such recognition is truly wonderful and I look forward to continuing to serve and practice the profession that I love for many years to come.”
Bastian is a master of the Academy of General Dentistry and has been a recipient of the academy’s Prestigious Lifelong Learning and Distinguished Service award. He is a Fellow in the International Academy of Dental Facial Aesthetics, the Academy of Dentistry International and the American College of Dentists
The Academy of General Dentistry is the second largest dental association in the world and represents over 35,000 general dentists in the United States and Canada.
Bastian is a past president for Ontario and served as regional director and trustee for Eastern Canada until 2008. He is currently chair of the academy’s governance, credentials and elections committee.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, he completed his dental education at McGill University and soon after opened his private practice in downtown Toronto, where he practiced for close to 20 years.
In 2003, he relocated permanently to Huntsville where he maintains a general practice on Main Street.
